The Hardy Tree

Just behind St Pancras station in London is a REALLY old little church with this wonderful tree in it's gardens. The Hardy Tree is named after Thomas Hardy who in the 1860's, before he became an author, worked there as the person in charge of excavating the graves. The headstones around this ash tree would have been placed here at that time. Note how over the decades the tree has actually grown in amongst the stones.
